Our Workshop Services

Monaro Timber is made up of two divisions, the timber retail side and the workshop.  In the workshop we employ several Cabinetmakers and Cabinetmaking apprentices who occupy a 700m² space.  Being timber specialists the majority of our work is done in solid timber although we do use a range of particle board, MDF and veneer board. 

The workshop is very well equipped for a full range of woodworking tasks and for those of you interested in the “toys” here is a list of our main equipment. 

•  410mm SCM jointer.  Purchased in 2006 a state of the art machine.

•  620mm Sicar thicknesser.  Purchased in 2004, capable of taking up to 8mm off at a time!

•  1350mm Holytek wide belt sander.  Couldn’t survive without it.

•  3.8m SCM sliding table saw.  Accurate for both solid and board material.

•  230mm Sicar five head moulder.  For square dressing and profiles.

•  Wadkin morticer.  The ultimate square hole machine.

•  SCM Stroke Sander. A very long belt sander for those specialised jobs.

•  Weinig Profile Grinder. Makes the cutters to produce skirting boards and other mouldings.

In addition there are several docking saws, band saws, clamping racks, door presses and a tool room for making specialised cutters.  Then there’s the hand workshop!

As you can see, with this gear inside a very big workshop we can do almost anything.  Typically we produce lots of dressed and moulded products but we also have a strong business in the production of solid timber benchtops.    These are used for kitchens and bathrooms, dining tables and workshop benches.  We also produce step treads, hand rails and all manner of “tricky” wooden items.  Monaro Timber is often called in when the other joineries get stuck. 

Keeping true to our roots we still manufacture some furniture items and we plan to offer a range of kit furniture for the woodworker shortly.  Stay tuned!
