Bloodwood
(Eucalyptus gummifera.)
Description
A large hardwood from the east coast of Australia. Heartwood is a med dark red with coarse interlocked grain. Lots of red gum streak hence the common name.
Workability
Machines well.
Applications
Mostly flooring and heavy construction.
Availability
Generally good.
Hardness
Janka 8.8 900Kg/m3.
Durability
Heartwood is very durable. Sapwood is lyctid borer susceptible.
