Cypress PineCallitris endlicheri, Callitris glauca DescriptionA small to medium softwood that grows in the hilly country of inland NSW and QLD. The heartwood has a lot of colour variation from pale yellow browns through to dark brown, almost black. Cypress is very knotty and prone to splitting as it dries. WorkabilityEasy to work but easily splits when nailed or screwed. ApplicationsExcellent for house frames in termite areas. Also other structural applications such as decking and pergolas. Makes and excellent floor or deck and is also very good for weatherboards. AvailabilityReadily available, though the framing is usually green. There is also some green flooring still available but all of our flooring is supplied kiln dried. HardnessJanka 6.6 710kg/m3. DurabilityExtremely durable and white ant resistant. At a Glance
