Dyera costulata
Description
A large hardwood from Malaysia and Indonesia. Heartwood is very pale, cream
in colour. The grain is generally straight. Latex canals are common.
Workability
Works well with or against the grain.
Applications
Pattern making and carving are the main uses these days.
Availability
Usually available sometimes 75mm thick.
Hardness
Janka 1.7 400kg/m3 - Very soft makes it so easy to work.
Durability
Not durable.
