Leatherwood
(Eucryphia lucida.)
Description
A small hardwood from the high rainfall areas of Tasmania. Heartwood is a
pale pink brown and the sapwood is hard to distinguish. Fine straight grain.
Workability
Very easy to work.
Applications
Often used for wood turning. Steam bends well. Famous for Leatherwood honey
Availability
Limited but not expensive.
Hardness
740Kg/m3 Fairly Hard.
Durability
