Red Stringybark
(Eucalyptus macrorhyncha.)
Description
A medium sized hardwood from NSW and Victoria. Heartwood is a pale red brown with creamy sapwood approximately 50mm wide. Often has interlocked grain and fiddleback figure.
Workability
Not known as a cabinet timber but it actually works very well and is surprisingly stable. Machines, routs, saws and sands very well.
Applications
All types of furniture and bench tops. Will exhibit some natural feature and surface cracking with certain boards..
Availability
Limited but we usually have 25mm and 38mm in stock.
Hardness
900kg/m3. Very hard
Durability
Moderately durable.
