River Red Gum
Eucalyptus camaldulensis
Description
A medium hardwood found mostly along the Murray / Darling river system. Has
suffered die back due to decreased water flows over the past 40 years. The
heartwood is a rich red, with lots of fiddleback, gum streak and pin hole borer.
Tends to distort severely whilst drying.
Workability
Difficult with the interlocked grain. Requires sanding.
Applications
Furniture craft work, flooring.
