Queensland Silver AshFlindersia bourjotiana DescriptionThis hardwood grows from the coastal rainforests of Northern NSW through to north Qld. It has a very pale heartwood which is hard to distinguish from the sapwood. WorkabilitySilver Ash works very well either by hand or machine. Care needs to be taken not to get the timber “grubby” as you work it due to its pale colour. Bends and glues well. ApplicationsExcellent cabinet timber. Is also used in boat building but must be well sealed as it is not a durable species. AvailabilityLimited due to most timber now coming from private forestry. We keep good stocks when available. HardnessJanka 5 620kg/m3. Not particularly hard. DurabilityNot very durable. At a Glance
